air - Build tight & ventilate right

Careful Airtightness Detailing, ventilation strategies and resource efficient Passivhaus principles are key factors in achieving Low Energy efficient building solutions which complement the bio-climatic design approach.

Ventilation strategies include:

1 Install a continuous airtightness layer to meet Passivhaus requirements

2 Adopt a ‘mixed mode’ ventilation strategy to mitigate heat build-up & remove excess moisture. Allow for both MVHR & adequate cross ventilation to maximise internal comfort throughout the year

3 Install a Mechanical Ventilation & Heat Recovery (MVHR) unit to Passivhaus criteria

4 Install a heat pump & hot water HW storage, review options with specialist ie. Air or Ground Source

MVHR

KEY PROJECT -

To meet Fresh Air & Heat recovery. Optimal air quality enhances health & comfort for the occupants. The MVHR continually removes stale air form Kitchen and high humidity rooms. The unit constantly pumps in preheated fresh air form outside to all other habitable rooms. >75% thermal efficiency &>0.45 & electrical efficiency is required.
