We take an Ecological design approach...

RIBA Plan of Work

Studio BE. is a Chartered RIBA practice and the RIBA Plan of work offers a guide to the various stages from conception through to post-completion for any building project. Throughout these recognised stages of works the architectural services provided are project specific and will be tailored to meet the requirements of your brief.

We work to the Key Design Principles set out in the RIBA Sustainable Outcomes Guide:

1. Prioritise building re-use

2. Carry out whole life carbon analysis of all building elements.

3. Prioritise ethical and responsible sourcing of all materials

4. Prioritise low embodied carbon and healthy materials

5. Minimise materials with high embodied energy impacts

6. Target Zero construction waste diverted to landfill

7. Promote use of local natural materials

8. Consider modular off-site construction systems

9. Detailing to be long life and robust

10. Design building for disassembly and the circular economy

STUDIO BE. design Strategies

Designing by nature helps to achieve the optimum building form & fabric, alongside appropriate, integrative services and energy systems, seeking to minimise the impact of the built environment.

PASSIVHAUS

Passivhaus is a tried & tested solution that gives us a range of proven approaches to deliver net-zero-ready new and existing buildings optimised for a decarbonised grid and augmented for occupant health and wellbeing. (PHI).

BUILDING BIOLOGY

Building Biology is the science of creating healthy, life enhancing buildings. StudioBE gave a talk about building biology at the RIBA PiP seminar on Health & Wellbeing, Sept 2020.

DESIGNING FOR NET ZERO

In 2020, LETI launched the Climate Emergency Design Guide, which outlines requirements of new buildings to ensure our climate change targets are met. Supplementary guidance to the Climate Emergency Design Guide, on Embodied Carbon, was provided in the Embodied Carbon Primer.
