PERMACULTURE APPROACH
StudioBE. have adapted David Holgren’s permaculture design principles to suit the purpose and the context of architectural projects. Our core ethos centres around buildings, biology and behaviour and the outer rings of principles support this. Our design intention is to capture these opportunities and find design solutions that overlap the needs of organisms, structures and our patterns of behaviour.
Green Street - Eco-conscious extension and permaculture garden (out to tender)
The design took into account various observations made of the site. Natural patterns, edges and boundaries were considered to maximise the potential of the site.
The indoor/outdoor space creates flexible spaces the family will to use and socialise. A wildflower roof provides food for bees, birds and butterflies, as well as bringing colour in the spring and summer. The rain garden will receive the rainwater run-off from the roof, providing sustainable water management.
